foreign student cost of living in hong kong?
foreign student cost of living in hong kong?
I'm planning to study in Hong Kong for one semester, but I want to know what is the average cost of living (monthly) of living in Hong Kong. That should include rent, electricity and services, food, etc. Anyone that has been studying in HK as exchange student, please tell me how much did you spent per month...??

The living cost here is quite high, I would say the minimum would be HK$8,000.00 to play safe for if you're sick and needed to have some medical treatment (around HK$300 for each private doctor consultation)! Average rent for a short term studio about 120 sq ft to 300 sqft in city near MTR stations or in New Territories would be from HK$4,000 up (includes management fee), if you decided to live in New Territories then you have to allow an extra HK$500 to 600 for transportation fee. Average transportation fee for student (half price) would be around HK$500 each month depends on the distance between your home and school or your activities rings. Electricity, food, mobile phone, gas,... etc would cost you at least HK$3,000 (say HK$100 each day, say HK$70 for 3 meals (home cooking for dinners and weekends), electricity bill - HK$300 per month, mobile phone HK$180 per month + other daily expenses - shower gel, shampoo, soap, etc.) If you want to have some social activities, you need at least HK$10,000.00 for each month to have dinners with friends once a week or go clubbing .. having coffee in Starbucks...etc. (a tall cup of coffee is about HK$25.00, I forget, a small cup of Haagen-Daz ice-cream is HK$29.50, Madonald's happy meal is around HK$21.00)
