How do you feel about people who make fun of or heckle handicapped or disabled people?
I always saw kids in school making fun of or shunning the kids who were handicapped or disabled. I even saw a bunch of rich "religious" kids start a fight between a jock and a kid who was mentally handicapped. They thought it was hilarious. What I found to be hilarious about the situation was that there was a black belt in karate from Hong Kong (foreign exchange student) watching and stepped in and whooped the jocks butt. Anyway, how do you feel about people that make life even more difficult on the ones who already have it the hardest?

I think that it sucks. It makes me upset because you can just imagine what they are feeling and how bad thier life already is. Not that it means thier life is bad or anything but just saying. They don't need people messing with them.
2 :
They're stupid. You can educate the ignorant, but the stupid tend to stay that way.
3 :
it makes me sick, angry, and afraid. Afraid for my own child.
4 :
They have lived a foolish and selfish life with courage that will someday turn on them I would not want them to be on the other side of the offense but some people jump that fence with their high minded words.
5 :
This is something that drives me crazy! People say and do things without even realizing it sometimes. For example, when somebody thinks something is bad and they say, "That is so retarded." Is it really? I didn't know that a concept or thought could actually be mentally retarded... Obviously, the people who purposefully try to make life more difficult for others (regardless of their mental capacity) have issues of their own. Just remember that you're not the only one out there who doesn't like to see things like this!
6 :
The amazing thing I have observed about the mentally handicapped is their ability to brush off bad things and take joy out of what is good in life. Plus, mentally handicapped people (or at least the ones I know) are pretty physically strong (I saw one crush a basketball with their bare hands)... I know I wouldn't ever pick a fight with one.

it makes me sick and breaks my heart. i wish someone would stand up for these kids in schools. i'm to old to do it (not in school anymore) but i hope there are brave kids out there that will stand up for them. there's no excuse for making these people's lives more difficult. they're people too. in my high school, there was a handicapped guy, Steve, whose situation made him spin in circles when he walked. his freshman year, people made fun of him but by his senior year everyone got to know him and loved him and his impact on the school was so far reaching that we NEVER saw any handicapped person get made fun of. Steve had a real impact on that school and the kids in it.
8 :
I hate them. If they yell rude things at me I will beat them with my cane even tho that will only cause me more physical pain than they will feel. At least maybe they think twice before they think they can harass a cripple because we're "weak and helpless"
9 :
It's not right. I'm not a kid but I'm disabled; I can't walk like I could before. And sometimes I have to drag my left leg when I walk, I have to have a cane. The kids, people who do this should be made to copy or have to do like the person they are bullying's disability for a month. That would teach them.
10 :
They should be given a taste of their own medicine.

It is so sad that people make fun of and shun people who are disabled or handicapped. Everyone deserves to be treated equally regardless of what condition they are in. I think people who make fun of or shun disabled or handicapped people do it because they are insecure or uncomfortable around them and for self satisfaction. I bet if they just address their concerns to the disabled or handicapped person it would be best for both sides. I bet they would make a great new friend if they are just honest with that person it would be great for both of them.

I can't stand people who do things like that. I am physically challenged, and am sad to say that even handicapped people pick on each other. We are all human, and we all have our limitations. No one is perfect.
13 :
I find them to be absolutely pathetic & stupid, and they are meant to be pitied.
14 :
I believe that people who make fun and tease the handicapped are selfish. They do not realize that they really do hurt other people because they are to busy being ignorant. I personally know it bothers me when people do this because of my mom. She is handicapped and people are always staring at her. There is nothing wrong with her... she is a person just like everyone else and they are going to have to accept that. Its rude and disrespectful.
15 :
Personally - I feel like going up to that person and beat the crap out of them and make them handicapped (say, from a broken leg and a broken jaw so they can't talk) for a few months so they can go around in wheelchair and so I and my friends can come around and make fun of them. They can also see how hard it is to get into a car, catch a bus, go up to sales counter and no one understand them. So they can see what life is like for a PWD. Realistically though, I know I can't do that. But I am very passionate about treating PWD with dignity and respect. Cheers But I feel ENRAGED when I see that.

The last time I witnessed a disabled person getting picked on was by a former supervisor of mine. This *sshole picked on a former co-worker of mine who had Down's Syndrome. I handle this by wiping the floor with this punk *ss that called himself my supervisor.
17 :
yeah I really don't like people to tease DA or HC about that, it is mean!
18 :
I am a believer in Karma. Someday, they will get their just rewards.
19 :
It makes me hope karma is real.
20 :
If you see this happening,Why don't you help the kids that are being made fun of....I bet if your among your friends and there laughing,I bet you are also making fun of the disabled...Am I right....
21 :
I also believe in karma. It is more of a b***h than I choose to be.

What do universities consider as an "International Student"?
I have a friend who's born, lived and studying in Hong Kong her whole life. But she's been attending International school there that follows the british system and all subjects are taught in english. Would she still be considered as an internation student if she were to apply to a US university? and will she still need to take her SATS? thanks in advance! jess

A student who is a citizen of the country in which the college is, is considered a regular student. Anyone who is not, is considered an international student

In order to get into ruse, you have to be academically qualified. You apply in June/July and you submit a form with all your acheivements, certificates etc... Then in September they tell you if you're successful or not. Good luck!
