She is engaged, but I am in love with her. I have never told her.?
Im in love with a girl who I now for 1 year, but I have not told her yet. She came from China to London when I was studying there and already had an american boyfriend (which she did not like) studying in London . I relocated to Scotland for a first class job and we are in touch by phone. I recently have heard from one of my friends, who live in London, that she is now engaged with her initial boyfriend. But she did not tell me when talking on phone. I never asked about it yet. I am now stable in Scotland and am in a position to tell her I love her. The thing is that she never talk about her boyfriend (or being engaged) when chating with me on the phone. Yesterday she sent me her CV to look for job for her in Scotland. I never have told her how much I love her and care for her because i did not want to make her confused. She had boyfriend all the time, and complained about him and his old fashion family back in HongKong. Last year she told me if she go with her boyfriend to HongKong she is never happy because his family treat her as a slave. She has to leave UK for good in 6 months because her student visa expires. Why she does not tell me that she is engaged? What shall I do? Is there still any hope? Im going to London next week for a short business trip.

Tell her what's up. What's the worse that happens? She should know how you feel
2 :
you should let her know how you feel
3 :
You know her better than any of us could know. If you think you'll hurt her or confuse her or screw her up by telling her which could very well happen DON'T- it is selfish. But if you don't... then tell her.
4 :
tell her now, dont wait until the wedding or after the wedding
5 :
you got to tell her~ you may never get this chance again.
6 :
I'm not being mean just serious here..... She didn't tell you cause she is a S L U T .... Stop being a home wrecker get some respect for your self and stop trying to go after some other guys girl. Would you really want a girl like that?.....Who uses people they are NOT in love with and tells them they ARE? What goes around comes around. It's called karma...... Go find a nice honest and single girl. That's what you should do. There is also a good chance she will be talking to other guys on the phone while she is with you..... 2nd chances never matter people never change.
7 :
tell her how you feel you never know what might happen which might be what she is waiting for. you dont want to go living thinking what could have been.....right tell her
8 :
If I were you I would let her know remember she isn't married yet! maybe things will go your way when she finds out. http://globalsky.com

Advise on buying the MBP 13inch?
Advise on buying the MBP 13inch?
Hello all! I am currently in hongkong for a vacation, I am a highschool student back in Manila,Philippines. My dilemma now is to whether to push through with my purchase of the MBP 13 inch here in hongkong (it saves me around $300) when I buy it here rather than back at home. Can anyone please give me advise on this? What are the weaknesses of the 2010 MBP 13? Is their any reports on a Logic board problem? I used to have an iBook, but it's logic board gave up on me last year, I really am a big gran of apple products, but if I see that the MBP is not a good buy, and would only cause me more headaches, I'd Find an alternative brand Please help!!! Thanks

What do you think of the recent uproar in Hong Kong about classifying the bible as "indecent"?

it is indecent. and it's christians who push decency laws

I think you're about 4-5 weeks behind the times (ok, maybe a slight exaggeration there, but not by much, if at all).

Yeah it is fair. It is an evil book and it should not be protected because it is religious.

Well, it's definitely the most profane book anywhere near my house. It's got more killing than all of my horror flicks combined, and more sex than all of my wife's chick flicks too. Not regular sex... nasty, get down with your sleeping relative sex. Sex with your neighbors wife. Sex with brothers and sisters, brother's wives, and virgins that you took prisoner and made into servants/slaves. I haven't even gotten to that Jesus fella telling you to take up a sword for him, cut off your own body parts, and hate everyone and everything on earth. This is easily the most disgusting book anyone has ever brought home and shared with their family.

If Hollywood made a movie based on the bible today, it would seriously get an NC-17. They'd get Eli Roth, Takashi Miike or Wes Craven to direct it. Seriously!
11 :
The Bible does mention many incidents of sin in it's pages. It was given to show man the error of his ways and the price for making those errors. It's purpose was to enlighten, however, not be indecent, and therein is the difference.

I seriously hope that they succeed, and jail the priests as purveyors of smut.

China is thinking of banning Christians from the Olympics. They do not like the criticism of limiting people to only 1 child and aborting the rest so they are putting priests and Bishops in prison faster than anything. They are afraid people will protest in the streets.

Which university is the best to study?(Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne)
Which university is the best to study?(Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne)
I got offers of 3 universities. *University of Queensland (Brisbane) #33 of the world in 2007. Master of Commerce in Applied Finance *University of Technology Sydney (Sydney) #87 of the world in 2005. Master of Business in Finance *La Trobe University (Melbourne) #98 of the world in 2005. Master of Financial Analysis (CFA partner) I will do a postgraduate coursework in finance and I would like to know which university and city is the best to study in terms of the culture of the university, night life in the city, international students, the people of the city, the chance of finding good accommodation, good transportation, cost of transportation for a international student, finding a job in the finance world. Weather and beaches are not really important. I have to live for 1.5 years in the city. Universities are equal in Australia to get a job I heard. But what if I want to work in Hongkong, Singapore, Europe or USA. Is the ranking important to find a job in Australia and somewhere else?

The 3 uni's that u have selected are one among the good uni's in Australia. No doubt about that. But rather than selecting the uni, you should focus more on the course structure. Make sure that the course structure is good cos that is really more important than the uni. Say for example, UQ is a good uni in brisbane and it is also in G8. Anything to study in bio-tech, UQ is the best. But when it comes to IT, the course that QUT offers is better than the one in UQ. So give more importance to the course. Regarding the life, accommodation and transportation, u need not worry cos u have selected the three major cities in Australia. These are the best in terms of services. So u need not really worry about tat. Ranking is not important to find a job. How did u do in ur uni, ur resume and the way u answer the questions are important to get a job. So u need not worry about tat as well.

well, first of all u should know a little about the cultures in china and a little of the language. i have a foriegn exchange student from germany at my high school and he's a junior. he's very popular(only cause he's from germany), but ifeel the experience would be great for you. just not right now. you should try your softmore year when you've gotten the hang of high school.
2 :
More commonly students (from what I've researched for foreign exchange programs myself), students should usually be around the 15-18 year old range. Program prices? You'll have to consider what it covers.
3 :
While you may not like the answer to this, the fact is that no reputable company certified to operate in the US will send you at age 14. The youngest you can go is 15 AND you have to have some high school. Besides, you are most likely not mature enough at your age, whether you believe it or not. However, you CAN take the next couple of years to truly prepare yourself to go. First, it's expensive! You will need to find a way to pay for it. You will also need to find a quality program. You can find a list of all those certified to operate in the U.S. at www.csiet.org. You should also ask your HIGH SCHOOL counselor for recommendations as an organization is only as good as its local representatives. Rotary is generally the cheapest, but most competitive. AFS, Aspect, 4-H, and YFU can also be quality programs. The best time to go is your junior year. You will have the maturity you need and have the ability to arrange your credits so you have what you need. Your counselor should work with you on this -- you may have to double up on a class or two. It would also enable you to enjoy your senior year with your friends and graduate with your class. For lots of information on being an exchange student, go to http://www.exchangestudentworld.com/ It's a comprehensive site written by exchange students for exchange students. If you ask them, however, I'm sure THEY will also tell you that 14 is too young. I'm sorry if you don't like hearing that, but one of the things you must learn in life is that people with experience often really DO know what they are talking about and a sign of maturity is accepting that.
4 :
Go to www.ciee.org and check out their programs for studying abroad. Most of the time, you have to know a foreign language in order to go to that country. I have hosted foreign students through CIEE and they are a good program to work with.

could you please check the personal statement for me?
could you please check the personal statement for me?
I'm a high school student, applying for Hongkong University. Since English is not my native language. I might make grammar mistakes or write unideomatically. It acquires me to write a personal statement to tell the reasons to choose the school, what subject I'm going to choose and my prospects for my future and so on. so I would be appreciated if you take some time to give some advice on my statement: I chose the University of Hong Kong for the following reasons: 1ã€it ranks high among internationally schools. Its use of English teaching and international practice broaden my horizons. It also has a number of university staff most of which are internationally renowned scholars who will provide us a high level of teaching. 2ã€its student-centred group-learning can fully mobilize our creativity. 3ã€Hong Kong is an international metropolis, which has a good employment environment. 4ã€China is getting more and more open. As a result, it will need more international talents. I would prefer Business as my major, because it is one of the subjects that enjoys greatest reputation. Talking about the prospects for the future, I intend to build up firm foundation in the college at the same time I broaden my horizons in Hong Kong. It would be best if I could get the opportunity to go abroad in exchange student programs. At the same time I wish to have interdisciplinary learning opportunities, so that I can become an all-rounder as well as expertise of different areas, and be able toserve the society well. In short, I will continue to struggle hard and be positive.

Wow, people traveling abroad to China applying for school. WTF. Unfortunate but a modern reality. Seems like you have got the right idea though. I think you will get in just fine. Also, your english is quite good. Better even than many Americans, unfortunately.
2 :
I am not an English Teacher ... but ... here is my opinion: Your reason # 1 ... It ranks high among international (drop the ly) schools. Again, reason # 1 ... scholars who will provide us (drop the us) a high level of teaching. Your reason #2 ... Its student-centred (I believe, it should be spelled centered, but I am not certain). Otherwise, I feel, it looks great! Best Wishes!
3 :
dude...you wana go 2 hong kong because of ur english?? unless ur chinese or 'hong konean' or have a problem with the verbal aspects of english , i dont see y in the world u would go 2 hong kong. 4 real ..... america has the best universities not "hong kong"... u sound like an intelligent person and looks to me like ur english is good maybe u just lack confidence... hong kong sounds a bit extreme....come on...seriously.
4 :
Your statement sounds solid and reflects organized thought. Most of the corrections are minor, and several are simply improvements in style which come with age. You have very good English skills. --Good luck! PART 1: I chose the University of Hong Kong for the following reasons: 1. it ranks high among international schools. 2. its use of English teaching and international practice will broaden my horizons. 3. HKU's university staff , many who are internationally renowned scholars, will provide a challenging level of teaching. 4. its student-centred, group learning can fully mobilize creativity. 5. Hong Kong's international metropolis possesses a solid employment environment. 6. China is opening its/her doors wider. As a result, she/it will need more international talents. -or- China is opening her doors wider and will need more international talent Corrections: 1. changed internationally to international 2. separated this point from the 1st 3. separated this point from the 1st -used HKU because 'it' was redundant. -removed 'us' -reworded the sentence -added commas to set off the appositive -I separated the three sentences in #1. Were you limited to just four reasons? 4. -added comma to separate adjectives -centred is fine, it's the British spelling -removed the hyphen from group-learning. -removed 'our' 5. enlivened the sentence by removing the being verb 'is' 6. replaced 'getting more and more open' with a stronger verb. -choose the pronoun you prefer. -also, you had the word 'more' in both sentences, which was redundant. PART 2: I think I knew what you were aiming for. If anything sounds 'off' to you, feel free to disregard it. I won't list the corrections except to say that 'struggle' has negative implications so I replaced it with diligent. You may want to look up both words in the thesaurus and see if you prefer another term. I would prefer Business as my major because it is one of the subjects that enjoys great reputation. (I love the use of the word enjoys.) Anticipating future prospects, I intend to build a firm foundation in the college at the same time I broaden my horizons in Hong Kong. It would be ideal if I could experience the opportunity to go abroad in an exchange student program. At the same time, I wish to engage in interdisciplinary learning opportunities to become an all-rounder, to gain expertise in different areas, and to serve society. In short, I will continue to be diligent and positive. (Struggle has negative implications so I replaced it with diligent. You can look up both words in the thesaurus and see if you prefer another term.) I also want to point out one more correction: So I would be appreciative if you took some time... (or) So I would appreciate if you took the time... (appreciated is the past tense form)

Hallo. Ich heisse Christopher. Ich bin student von Hongkong. Wie findest du Herr Brühl und Herr Vogel? Question 2) What does "Prüfung bestanden" mean in English ? Is "bestanden" an adjective or verb? Also what does "bald Urlaub" mean ? Is it grammatically correct to say "Urlaub bald" instead? Question 3) What does "den Führerschein machen" mean in English? To make a driving licence or to make a motorboat licence? Or it means to pass the driving test? Question 4) What does this paragraph mean in English? " Ich habe mich sehr gefreut. Leider geht es morgen nicht, denn Tanja ist zurzelt in Krankenhaus. No they are not very famous Jürgen Vogel quite famous. Bestanden is a verb the participle of Bestehen in this case to pass an exam Urlaub bald is on holiday soon Kundendienst is the service department eg if you have a complaint
2 :
1. These two actors are not very famous, acting in movies I would not watch. 2. Means passed exam, ist a verb Bald Urlaub means soon on vacation (holydays), Urlaub bald is wrong. 3. To make a driving licence is the common meaning, but Führerschein means permit to drive a vehicle specified on the Führerschein as class (different classes, different tests). 4. I was very pleased. China and Hongkong conflict......?
China and Hongkong conflict......?
Ok, I'm a high school student. A school representative election is underway, one of the nominees is a Mandarin chinese boy (a nice guy really), but this person that I know who is cantonese (hongkong). He's somewhat really upset, it's like he hates china(mainland). He says all these things about china is communists and if the madarin boy wins the election it would be like chairman Mao back in WWII in china. And all these things about he likes england and freedom blah blah and how Mainland China are bunch of sh*t. This is really start to annoy me now as I'm a mainland chinese, I don't really care much about all this, but any suggestions to deal with this??? *Plus this hong kong cantonese person runs around school, posting things on facebook saying bad things about china and stuff.....I'm not saying Im up set, but it's really bugging me out.

Mandarin is a language. There is no such thing as a Mandarin boy. Mandarin speaking boy, maybe. Similarly, Cantonese can refer to the language or to the people from Guangzhou. A Cantonese Hong Kong person makes no sense. Again, you can say a Cantonese speaking person from HK.

if it's bugging u so much, you could kick his @ss . . . but for what reason? just because he said somethin u don't like? yur image would drop pretty low & kids wouldn't like you. you just have to accept there are people in hong kong & the world who are bltches. after being a british colony, there are cantonese who love being britain's gimp and feel having britain rule over HK would be better than self rule & independence just call him a "british dog," i bet most kids at school would agree - without violent commies storming the british embassy and making brits kneel on glass and bltch slap them across the face, you think the British would give back HK willingly? - second, you should feel proud mainland china doesn't hold stupid elections. here in the US, politicians are poor, so they have to beg corporations and bankers to give them money to run for election and pay the media to run their commericals. after they win, they have to repay their debts to capitalists democratic government are just puppet gov'ts. china gives tax rebates to it's lower class citizens. canada and the US has to bail out bankers on wall street bottom line, if democracy is so successful? why is india so f**ked up even when they had a 60 year head start on democracy? - if that guy likes england so much, tell him to go to england and wear a kilt like the gay scots anyway, happy 60 year anniversary.

Pls advise me of the cheapest accomodation in HongKong for 3D/2N on Sept 3-5?
This is the first time i'll travel abroad and alone..pls help me find the cheapest posible place to stay in HK island and also near the train station that would bring me to Disneyland. Im planning to go there also and hope to get there as easy, fast and as affordable as possible. I will really appreciate if u would help me. Im a working student and this trip is a gift for myself. Do you have to stay on HK island? With the subway system the whole area is easily gotten to. Anne Black Guest House (YMCA) is available for USD 48 per night for the dates you are to be there. Anything else ON HK island would be USD10-20 more per night. For that difference and maybe a 10 minute subway ride would be worth the difference. It's right near KCR train station if you wanted to go to Shenzhen too. It is a 10 minute walk to the Subway station. Most hotels on HK island are 5-10 minutes walks also. http://www.asiarooms.com/hong_kong/hong_kong/anne_black_guest_house_%28ywca%29-hotel-location.html Here is the website to the Hong Kong Tourism Board http://www.discoverhongkong.com/usa/index.jsp It has many things you want, subway routes, how to's, etc. I think it is nicer to look upon HK island from Kowloon side than vice versa. You can use www.asiarooms.com to find a different hotel if you'd like. Or try Kayak.com or Sidestep.com Good luck
2 :
Reliable online booking http://www.asiarooms.com http://www.discoverhongkong.com http://www.hotelclub.com http://www.hongkonghotels i actually recommend also http://www.xanga.com/shamrockhotel
3 :
Yes I know exactly I stayed at Wharney Guang Dong Hotel 6 months ago it's cheap and very very clean about 700 HK$ a night. And another hotel is BP international about 650 HK$ but price may vary during peak seasons. If you want to go to Disneyland the cheapest way is to take MRT just ask people around once you at MRT station most of Hong Kong people speak little english and would love to help you out.

Do I need to get visa and where? For HongKong.?
I am a university student from Myanmar currently studying in Taiwan. I want to travel to Hongkong, where do I get visa and do I need a visa?
Embassies & Consulates - 4 Answers

1 :
you don't need visa for Hong Kong if your going to HongKong. it's very safe there now that the British are no longer sucking up the money
2 :
If you are in an ASEAN country visiting another ASEAN country then a visa is not necessary ... unless you are staying longer than 10 days.
3 :
No visa or entry permit is required for any purpose if you hold any of the following travel documents: Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Passport, British National (Overseas) Passport, Hong Kong Certificate of Identity, Hong Kong Re-entry permit (for entry from the Mainland of China and the region of Macau only), Hong Kong Seaman's Identity Book, Hong Kong Document of Identity for Visa Purposes provided that the document is valid or the holder's limit of stay in Hong Kong has not expired. Travel documents bearing one of the following endorsements: "Holder's eligibility for Hong Kong permanent identity card verified." "The holder of this travel document has the right to land in Hong Kong. (Section 2AAA, Immigration Ordinance, Cap. 115, Laws of Hong Kong)" Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card.
4 :
Hong Kong is an interesting place and whether or not you need a visa for a visit depends on your citizenship (which country's passport you hold). Most "western" countries can visit HK without a visa, however citizens of some countries do require a visa even for a short visit (and you need to apply beforehand). Here's a link to a very good page (official HK government) that explains this and has a list of countries that do and do not need a visa to HK - http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htm According to this page Myanmar citizens DO need a visa to travel to HK (when you go to the page, scroll down till you see a chart with all the countries). Here's another good page on Hong Kong - http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/index.jsp http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/mustknow/information/index.jhtml http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/contactus.htm This page below says that anyone from/in Taiwan can apply for a permit/visa at one of the authorized Airline Offices - http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_6.htm so you'll need to find a travel agency or an airline that works with HK and apply through them Good luck!

how good is HKD 20000 per month in Hongkong? ?
i am an MBA student of a B-School in India which ranks in the top 15. i have been offered a job on hongkong for HKD 20000 per month. I'm a bachelor and would be living alone or share the accodomation with friends. so, is the amount good? if you were to compare that to indian currency in india, what amount in indian Rs do u think i'd be earning?

HKD$20000 is just an average earning in HK. a new grad clerk wil be abt HKD$10000 in HK. a manager in a middle class co. wil be abt HKD$30000. police officer wil be abt HKD$14000 but w/ free accommodation. anyway, HKD$20000 yes... u can live on ur own but no rich at all. as HK living standard is just a bit lower than Tokyo. food not v expensive but apartment does. but as u said, u can share w/ ur friend rite? that would be a lot better. travel expenses is ok in HK. the MTR (our tube) is convenience & clean + cheap.

Shenzhen Luohu or shenzhen train station on the second floor there is direct gate for Chinese and foreigners who want to go to Hongkong. Fill out some forms which customs office needed then pass the customs entry gate buy a subway ticket at the service window (of course there are many stops you have to choose one) then you will be in Hongkong in no time. But one thing you do need to remember is does your students visa a multiple entry visa? If not you have to apply for another visa at Chinese embassy in Hongkong if you want to return mainland China. For more visa and job information you can check it from www.networkesl.com I hope this is helpful for you.
2 :
Nepalese passport holders require a visa to enter Hong Kong, you cannot get one on arrival.Secondly you must have a multiple entry visa for China so that you can return to your university in China after visiting Hong Kong.

Excluded airfare, for 5 days, I think S$500 can do. For transport in HK, buy MTR(MRT) daily ticket known as tourist ticket cost HK$50 about S$10, no limit on MTR travel, for 24 hours, after that can keep ticket

you didnt give us enough info to anser the Q. If you stay in kowloon at the mirador mansions it'll be about $20/night single, cheaper for doubles. Thats the cheapest possible in hk and the rooms arent great, but decent i guess. food is about 40-60HK$ average if you dont go to nice places like soho (except los tacos in soho, cheap and DELICIOUS mexican food! 15-20HK$/taco) Most foreign food is expensive. Noodles are cheap. Shopping is not cheap but i dont know much about buying fabrics, etc if you can take the bus from the airport (A21 I think) its only 33HK$ as opposed to the subway which costs WAY more. If you pay per trip its like 4HK$ for one stop on the subway, like 10 for two stops, though it might vary. From Kowloon to Lantau it was only 17 so i doubt it gets much more expensive than that. The deal the guy above mentioned might be good. I easily spent 500HK$ in one day with hotel, food, shopping, etc One more thing, always remember to bargain! start with at least 30% off any price they give

Indonasian nationals do not need a visa to enter Hong Kong and can stay there up to a month!!!!

You may need a VISA to visit China but not Hong Kong. The easiest thing to do is to check with a local travel agency in Taiwan. Travel agencies there handle a lot of travel to HK and China and they will be able to help you.
