Do anything and everything. You door to door in your neighborhood and offer to do unwanted chores you can make $10-$30 bucks a house do this often and maybe you can reach your goal. This will only work if you are really all in on this thing.

Can Canadian international students travel to the US as tourists? Any visa required?
Can Canadian international students travel to the US as tourists? Any visa required?
Can Canadian international students travel to the US as tourists just like US international students travel to the Canada? I want to know the answer to my scenario particularly. I was an US international student and now I am a Canadian international student. I am from Hong Kong and holding a Hong Kong SAR passport. Can I travel to the US as a Canadian international student as tourists just like I was travel to the Canada as an US F1 international student? Do I need to apply any visa? My US student visa haven't expired but my I20 has. Thank you for answering. Do I need to go to the US Embassy?

Yes you can travel to USA if you have resident in Canada. you get the Visa from USA airport
2 :
In some places along the border, you can just walk across. It's like a street. On one side is the US, the other Canada. No border patrol, crazy Mexico drug lords, etc. Just smooth sailing.
3 :
As a holder of a Hong Kong passport, you are going to need a tourist visa. Apply in your nearest US consulate in Canada. You cannot use your US student visa because you are no longer a student in the US. That visa became null after you stopped your studies here.
4 :
Your statements are wrong. U.S. students cannot go to visit Canada without a visa. Only U.S. Green Card holders may do so. However certain passport holders are visa exempted for a visit to Canada; those are for example citizens of the Hong Kong SAR. Same as U.S. students cannot go to Canada, Canadian students cannot go to the United States. Citizens of Hong Kong are not visa waived to the United States; you will need to apply for a B-2 visa to go to the States as a tourist. Hong Kong estimated wages?
Wondering about approximate wages for a student (19yr old, 0-2 yr experience). What would be the wage/hr in hk for a waitress? Food shop sales girl (say like a cake shop)? Small clothing store sales girl? Thank you $/HOUR? first time working, ordinary restaurant (not some fancy high class one). language:eng/mandarin/canto

To answer your question. Working as a waitress, sales, depends where you work, what company. The wages varies from store to store, restaurant to restaurant, etc. Is about 2,500 - 3,500 HKD to start. Some companies may pay more.If you have better qualification and experienced, you may get higher wages.Always ask when you go there for interview. I assume you must also speak English and Cantonese there. Good luck.
2 :
the basic hourly wages set by the HK government wil be started fr HKD$28. if you hv more experience, maybe a bit higher. n usually a waitress / sales lady wil be work as fulltime. average monthly salary wil be abt HKD$7,000 up. depends on the commission scheme.

It's not what you asked for (sorry). But, there is no such place known as 'University Road'. However, There is a long road in Taipei (Da-An District) called He-ping Don Lu (He-ping East Road), which has 3 universities on it and next to the Guting MRT station you can find numerous art stores on either side of the road, there must be at least 10 - 15 art stores all together.

yea the site's a little difficult to navigate for finding the app. if you want to apply you should do it SOON, deadline is jan 31st i think but you have to send in a copy of ur passport, transcript, and a referee's report filled out by one of your teachers. online part will be no problem to do, its just that since your in the USA, who knows how long it will take for ur transcript to get to HKU and u hav to send referee's report thru ur school too. i would send my passport copy with that stuff too, b/c its easier. Im in the USA too and i just applied last week. heres where the online app is ---> http://www.hku.hk/admission/nonjupas-application.htm what r u applying for? just curious.

Can I change a student visa of the UK to settlement visa if my mother is a British Citizen? I'm over 18.?
I have a student visa of UK and I am currently living here with my parents. My mom is a settled British citizen and my dad's here too. I want to apply for a UK settlement visa through my mom but i was refused before in hong kong as i was over 18. So, I would just like to know if i'm elligible to apply for one. Please let me know whatever you know. Thanks.

My husband is British. It is my understanding that it needs to be your mother (or father) who petitions for you. Part of the application process will be her needing to show that she can support you without recourse to public funds, and have a suitable place for you to live. Also I do not think it is possible to change the visa classification while you are in the UK. I believe you will need to go home, then the process can begin. But why not contact immigrations, an attorney to find out the where to's and how for's. I know from personal experience that what is doable and allowed is not always what they post on the immigration websites. Good luck to you!
2 :
Answer to your question is, NO. You need to live in UK for 5 years on work visa & pay TAXES. OR when u are over 21 & if u marry a British citizen then u can get settlement visa (ILR) to live in UK. Your mother cannot play any role in getting u visa, since u are over 18 & independent adult.
3 :
No,it is not possible at all. You are an adult and your mother was not born here neither. Why do you want to live here anyhow. What is wrong with your own country.
4 :
No you can't! you say that you mom is a settled British citizen, and your "dad" is here too, but is your dad legally here? does he have correct visa? just because your mom has the correct documents it does not mean that your dad has, you may have opened a can of worms here, go back to hong kong quickly before you get your father thrown out of the country along with you.

How do you ask out an American (originally form Hong Kong) Chinese girl?
I have the biggest crush on a fellow classmate. She comes from Hong Kong but has lived here for many years. I have known her for about a year but recently we started hanging out together. Mostly going out to eat with other students. I really want to ask her out for a more casual one on one date, but I'm not really sure if she feels the same way. Does anyone know if HK girls like hispanic men like myself? Should I just continue to befriend her and try to get to know her better? or should I try to ask her out soon before it's to late?

Well, it's definitely the most profane book anywhere near my house. It's got more killing than all of my horror flicks combined, and more sex than all of my wife's chick flicks too. Not regular sex... nasty, get down with your sleeping relative sex. Sex with your neighbors wife. Sex with brothers and sisters, brother's wives, and virgins that you took prisoner and made into servants/slaves. I haven't even gotten to that Jesus fella telling you to take up a sword for him, cut off your own body parts, and hate everyone and everything on earth. This is easily the most disgusting book anyone has ever brought home and shared with their family.

If Hollywood made a movie based on the bible today, it would seriously get an NC-17. They'd get Eli Roth, Takashi Miike or Wes Craven to direct it. Seriously!

The Bible does mention many incidents of sin in it's pages. It was given to show man the error of his ways and the price for making those errors. It's purpose was to enlighten, however, not be indecent, and therein is the difference.

How to per pare for the SAT Verbal test? And do you think that the SAT maths is a bit too easy?
How to per pare for the SAT Verbal test? And do you think that the SAT maths is a bit too easy?
Hi. I will be taking the SAT in three years time and I just have a glance at what the paper is like. I scored nearly full mark in the Maths part but the Verbal part is a total fiasco. I just wonder whether regular English classes at schools will be enough for taking the test or there are some special perperation work that must be done. Also I just don't understand why the Maths part is so simple. (I remember that there is a question of asking you to find the area of a triangle, with the base and height given!) I am not trying to exaggerate but any high school student in Hong Kong can peobably score full mark in the test. I'm not a native learner of English and does not live in an English speaking city.
Homework Help - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
the verbal should be completed easily with a basic background in english grammar, reading, and writing. ( i know. i've taken them before.) if you are a good writer/proofreader, then there should be no problem as you should know the basic rules about sentence structure, agreement, and the like.
2 :
The Math section is remarkably easy. ETS does that on many of its tests, including the GRE. I think it's because so many students find math all but impossible. For me, the verbal section was not hard. The biggest thing to know is VOCABULARY. There are many books out there with lists called "The Hit Parade" which include some of ETS's favorite words to include. These books also offer strategies for answering the various types of questions in the verbal sections. I recommend an SAT Prep book by The Princeton Review. I used their GRE Prep book and aced the test. Good luck!
3 :
My recommendation for success on the verbal SAT, especially since you have three years to prepare, is to READ, READ, READ!!! And when you are done, READ some more. You will increase your vocabulary that way and most likely will become a better writer as well. Regular High school English classes ought to be all you need; however, you need to READ. Get that message PLEASE!!!

Can I change from a work to a student visa in China w/o leaving the country?
I am leaving my employment in Shanghai and wish to study in Beijing. I am an American, and I have heard that some people have to go to Hong Kong to get their visas changed, but would I potentially need to return to America to get a new visa? Thanks!

No, you don't need to go to Hong Kong to get your visa changed (especially you're applying for a student visa, that may not be the case for Z visa, though). You should contact a trustworthy agent to do the conversion and only the one you can trust. More new agents are now opening and they usually have "sudden price fluctuations" and "hidden costs", or even worse they may somehow lose your passport, no visa at all even after the due date of your visa. Terrible? Yes. But it happens A LOT. Contact me for more information, we frequently helped friends dealing with visa problems.

How to survive in Hong Kong?
How to survive in Hong Kong?
I graduated from college in the states last year and moved back to Hong Kong 4 months ago. Hong Kong is my hometown actually. But the problem is I'm still not used to my life in HK. Here probably are the reasons : When I lived in the states, I hung out with Americans 24/7 which means I blended in very well. Even alot of people thought I was American instead of a foreigner. I had many friends and I loved the activities such as partying, driving to friends' places, road tripping....I just love the whole western life. I know HK is an international city so it shouldn't be hard to meet westerners. Yes I met lots of people from America and Europe, I've been hanging out with them. But the thing is most of them have left HK or are going to leave soon because they're usually exchange students or temporary workers. Some people have told me that I need to make friends with local HK people if I want long term friendships. I tried but HK people don't seem to have alot in common with me. Now I feel lonely actually. I don't know what to do. HK allows youtube, facebook and everything. It's NOT the same as China. I'm still keeping in touch with my friends in the states through those media.

Since I live in Hong Kong (but Hong Kong's not my hometown, actually) I really think (local) Hong Kong people are "lack-of-friendliness" Since you're from America, maybe your Cantonese is not good enough?? (I'm just guessing) Hong Kong people sometimes discriminate people who doesn't speak Chinese well Many of my teachers are from Canada or the states and they really can't understand and speak Cantonese well, and my classmates laughed at them... Maybe you can try to blend with those Hong Kong people and learn from their habits?? Or learn the fashion of Hong Kong peope?? ((But don't try to copy all of their habits and clothing) (Keep your style :) ) I'm not from Hong Kong but I get well with my classmates too maybe i spoke Cantonese fluently?? or they treat me like local Hong Kong people~ Even an foreigner (like me), can get well with Hong Kong people You can definitely be great friends with them... Go go go!!! åŠæ²¹ :))) Perhaps I can be your friend??? my email: candy426@Live.hk

I'd really want to study in one of the Ivy League schools, especially Harvard University. When shall I start my application? When will be the first year of my university life usually?? When shall I Start planning for my future education in the US, looking for application forms, taking tests? And what's the different between college and university? I don't have these in HK and none of my friends/ relatives have studied in the US. Please help!!!! I'm feeling quite helpless right now...

First off, ANYONE applying to Harvard has a very small chance of getting in - the class size is simply tiny compared to the number of applications they receive; and since most people won't spend the money unless they feel they have the chance to actually get in, your chances, regardless of your standing, are very small. If you extend to all Ivys, you chances improve, obviously. However, depending on your area of interest, there are FAR better universities than Ivys, especially considering the costs. Second, start your application process about a year early - taking the required tests (SAT for undergrad, GRE/GMAT/LSAT/MCAT for graduate, depending on your field) take the TOFOL, get the application, start on the essays early. Most applications are available about 6 months before the deadlines. The earlier you take the tests the better. There is no real difference between college and university. Majors and fields of interests are grouped in colleges, all residing on the main campus of the university. For example, a typical university will have a college of Engineering, a college of Letters and Science, etc. Important thing is that all these various college are part of the university - Harvard has something like 7 or 8 different colleges on the main campus. Anyway, good luck. Peruse the Harvard website, and look at some of the other US university websites, and if you do not find the info you need, email the registar and ask your specific questions.

Clothing/shoes in Hong Kong for a tall guy?
I am a college student ending my stay in mainland china. I hope to pick up some nice shoes and clothes. Thanks! nice 'n slim. keep the answers rolling! Also, I'm staying on Hong Kong Island... so i don't really wanna go further than kowloon.

For shoes and sports stuff you can check the Adidas outlets (Tanka) in Hunghom or North Point. They have a good selection of mainly Adidas owned brands. They have some large sizes too. For business shoes check with Rockport in HK directly. They can tell you what sizes they have in Hong Kong and where to pick them up. It's no problem in HK when you know where.
2 :
4 westerner's size.... u better go to Zara, H & M. they serve European size. my bro = 6'3".... he can easily get clothes there. n shoes.... size 12. probably european brands again. as we do not hv 12 in normal shop i suppose. usually upto 11 or v less 11 & a half. anyway, can also try the Marks & Spencer. they serve UK size. n we hv an outlets mall in HK which sell discounted brands all yr round. u must try there. here's their website. http://www.citygateoutlets.com.hk/index.html
3 :
Go to Causeway Place in Causeway Bay, go to some of the Japanese and Korean shops there, especially degrees. That is if you're just tall...if you're fat as well then you're kind of screwed as even the western shops don't carry much fat size.
4 :
Given your size and your budget, it will be pretty difficult. Honestly. You may want to try Stanley Market. As far as large sized shoes are concerned, you may want to try also Citygate in Tung Chung (Take the MTR there - 30 minutes). The mall is basically all outlet stores, so your chances are higher there.

International student buying a house in the U.S.?
International student buying a house in the U.S.?
Hi, I am an international student from Hong Kong and holding a student visa with me. I am planning to buy a house in the washington state which cost about $200,000. The reason I am buying the house is I really love this country and want to stay here forever. However, I am holding a student visa, does anyone know if I can get a green card if I buy a house and a car in the U.S? If not, can you suggest me any other way for becoming a U.S green card holder? Thanks very much

Buying a house and car in USA will NOT get you a green card. The best way to go about this would be to study hard and get your qualification. Use this qualification to find work with an employer who would be willing to sponsor you for a permenant (or work) visa. If I am correct, your study visa should also allow you to work a limited job while you study - try to find an employer in your area of study who would be willing to sponsor you for a working visa when your studying is over. Alternatives are to start your own business that will open up jobs for American citizens. This can get you a green card. Also, if you invest (A LOT, and I mean A LOT) of money into an American business, this can also qualify you for a green card.

Mcdojang or not Mcdojang located in Hong Kong?
Mcdojang or not Mcdojang located in Hong Kong?
I asked a similar question earlier on this morning, but the answers I got back were a little off topic, probably because I didn't exactly phrase the question the way I meant it. Anyways, I have been taking ITF (International Taekwondo Federation) styled taekwondo for over 2 years and am very pleased with the results. I have also signed up for WTF (World Taekwondo Federation)taekwondo as my school requires all year 10/sophomore students to partake and continue a new sport for a period of one year. The place where I take my lessons in are very different to what I am used to and after reading several "99% of all taekwondo places are mcdojans"websitesI am beginning to worry if I am being cheated. I have been going there for ten months now and am getting my green belt tomorrow (that is three belts away from a white belt and six belts away from a black belt). The test costs $30, each lesson is $5 for 90 minutes and the new belt costs $4.5.I also have to buy equpiment after reaching green belt (as sparring becomes a neccessary component) and it costs $100 forbody armour (hogu), paddle, helmet, arm and leg proctectors and a groin protector.Joining the Hong Kong Taekwondo Association also becomes complusory and joining costs me $12 but its a one time payment. The classes need to be paid for every 3 months. The worst thing I fear for is that this WTF gym is a franchise- with more than 15 gyms throughout Hong Kong. There is 4 teachers in my class and 17 students. The youngest teacher is 23 and holds a 1st dan. The eldest is in his late thirties and is 5th dan. We do flexing in class, kicking, poomsae (fighting patterns) and some sparring. We are also taught to defend ourselves against rapists and lightly armed attacks (knives but no guns). According to your instincts, do you think I am attending a Macdojang and not getting what I am paying for? I do feel that I am noticeably fitter but don't know if learning this stuff will help me in an actual situation.... Thanks P.S. Please do not ask me why I am not doing kung fu...I am quarter Korean and really want to experience its culture by learning taekwondo. That and I used to learn Wing Chun anyways :P

Since you don't want me to ask about why you are doing TKD, I can only offer the same comments about your Dojang, as I did in answering your first question. There seem to be several things that don't feel right about your dojang. I suggest you re-read my previous answer, and ignore the part about why TKD. Best of Luck! Edit: If your dojang is a franchise with 15 branches, that is a very bad sign. I've yet to see any TKD or karate franchise that is not a belt Mill/McDojo/McDojang. ...

What Chinese city would you recommend for an American student to study abroad in?
What Chinese city would you recommend for an American student to study abroad in?
I have a very low understanding of Mandarin now but am taking a class in it so I will have time to improve before I leave. Which city would help me learn Mandarin while still being the most english-friendly city in China. I'm mostly looking at Beijing, Hong Kong, or Shanghai, but if you have other suggestions let me have them. Don't worry about me missing out on anything as I will visit all these cities while there. Only which is city is best to live in. Thanks! I really hope Zoe is joking.....

Shanghai is more cosmopolitan and I think have a higher number of westeners (chinese version of San Francisco mixed with new york). Beijing is also a good city with plenty of universities to study in (and the olympics is being held there next year). Hong Kong is not really a good choice if your plan is to study mandarin, since english is widely used and cantonese is the spoken dialect on the streets, so you'll just end up confused.
3 :
I always liked Xi'an,. Xi'an is an ancient capital almost in he geographic centre of China, away from the hectic export-zone coast. Moreover, there are four exact seasons in Xi'an, four different regions of food bordering it, the desert with it's dates and mutton, and dried fruits, the East with it's rice and seafood, the Northeast with it's flour and noodles, etc. Xian has it all, (albeit gritty and full of cars now)... There are also places like Ankun nearby where they still mine Jade, and Panda habitats not too far away, too, and don't forget the Terracotta soldiers... I'd head to Xi'an. Plus, their local college, where you may study Mandarin, is called, "Northwestern University" Still, , to feel much less isolated, Beijing, or Shanghai are at least trendy cities with more western ideas floating around, albeit costly... HongKongese understand Cantonese more than Mandarin.
4 :
Well communication wise, Hong Kong would be a good choice since their signs are all in Chinese and English and many people speaks English. But learning Mandarin might not a good idea although the city offers Mandarin in their universities and the city is dominated by Cantonese speaking. I would say any of the Mainland cities would suit you learning Mandarin if you want to be in a Mandarin environment. But if you find Hong Kong better suit for you, then go ahead and take a tour at the world class city while you are there to learn Mandarin.

i have heard harbin, heilongjiang (spelling??) is a huge university city as well

also, Hangzhou is a very nice city; great food and and near many places of interest. Nanjing is another great city with many fine universities.
7 :
Beijing, HK, Shanghai are great cities, but they are huge and it's easy to get lost in them. Smaller cities such as Suzhou or Nanjing and still big, but compared to Shanghai are much smaller. That way you still are in a normal town, not the middle of nowhere. Suzhou and Nanjing are really close to Shanghai, about 3 hour car ride. Both cities are very similar. Suzhou is a great city to live and study in. You'll probably be at Suzhou University, the major college in Suzhou. It has a great location in the middle of the city and it's close to almost everything. It campus has a very relaxed atmosphere because it combines the old history and the modern renovations. There are a lot of international students that study there, especially from Japan and Korea. Suzhou is a great historical city with canals throughout the city. There are imperial gardens and it's close to Tai lake--a relaxing place a few hours outside the city. Public transportation is great in Suzhou. There are a lot of buses and come around often, but they can get really really crowded. The best thing would be a moped because the city is relatively big in area. The weather is humid and hot during the summer time and cold in the winter. You don't need to take a lot of things because you can just buy them in Suzhou. Since the exchange rate is so good for one USD, things are very cheap and you can find everything from Colgate toothpaste to Pringle's potato chips.
8 :
For your own convience, i would choose Hong Kong. But they speak cantonese there. Most people understand english. if you want a mandarin speaking city, i would recommend shanghai. Its probably the closest thing to hong kong.
9 :
Dalian Hangzhou Qingdau

David, Try cities in northern China cz' its dialect is the closest to standard mandarin. When you are learning a language, you want to practice it as much as possible, right? Beijing is the best place. It has the best universities in China, a good size of expat population and diverse culture. You will never get bored. But it could be very expensive too. Cheaper choices are Harbin, Dalian, Shenyang and Changchun. The major drawback of northern cities is the weather and pollution. Southern cities have less pollution, but their dialects are very different from mandarin.

How do you feel about people who make fun of or heckle handicapped or disabled people?
I always saw kids in school making fun of or shunning the kids who were handicapped or disabled. I even saw a bunch of rich "religious" kids start a fight between a jock and a kid who was mentally handicapped. They thought it was hilarious. What I found to be hilarious about the situation was that there was a black belt in karate from Hong Kong (foreign exchange student) watching and stepped in and whooped the jocks butt. Anyway, how do you feel about people that make life even more difficult on the ones who already have it the hardest?

I think that it sucks. It makes me upset because you can just imagine what they are feeling and how bad thier life already is. Not that it means thier life is bad or anything but just saying. They don't need people messing with them.
2 :
They're stupid. You can educate the ignorant, but the stupid tend to stay that way.
3 :
it makes me sick, angry, and afraid. Afraid for my own child.
4 :
They have lived a foolish and selfish life with courage that will someday turn on them I would not want them to be on the other side of the offense but some people jump that fence with their high minded words.
5 :
This is something that drives me crazy! People say and do things without even realizing it sometimes. For example, when somebody thinks something is bad and they say, "That is so retarded." Is it really? I didn't know that a concept or thought could actually be mentally retarded... Obviously, the people who purposefully try to make life more difficult for others (regardless of their mental capacity) have issues of their own. Just remember that you're not the only one out there who doesn't like to see things like this!
6 :
The amazing thing I have observed about the mentally handicapped is their ability to brush off bad things and take joy out of what is good in life. Plus, mentally handicapped people (or at least the ones I know) are pretty physically strong (I saw one crush a basketball with their bare hands)... I know I wouldn't ever pick a fight with one.
7 :
it makes me sick and breaks my heart. i wish someone would stand up for these kids in schools. i'm to old to do it (not in school anymore) but i hope there are brave kids out there that will stand up for them. there's no excuse for making these people's lives more difficult. they're people too. in my high school, there was a handicapped guy, Steve, whose situation made him spin in circles when he walked. his freshman year, people made fun of him but by his senior year everyone got to know him and loved him and his impact on the school was so far reaching that we NEVER saw any handicapped person get made fun of. Steve had a real impact on that school and the kids in it.
8 :
I hate them. If they yell rude things at me I will beat them with my cane even tho that will only cause me more physical pain than they will feel. At least maybe they think twice before they think they can harass a cripple because we're "weak and helpless"
9 :
It's not right. I'm not a kid but I'm disabled; I can't walk like I could before. And sometimes I have to drag my left leg when I walk, I have to have a cane. The kids, people who do this should be made to copy or have to do like the person they are bullying's disability for a month. That would teach them.
10 :
They should be given a taste of their own medicine.
11 :
It is so sad that people make fun of and shun people who are disabled or handicapped. Everyone deserves to be treated equally regardless of what condition they are in. I think people who make fun of or shun disabled or handicapped people do it because they are insecure or uncomfortable around them and for self satisfaction. I bet if they just address their concerns to the disabled or handicapped person it would be best for both sides. I bet they would make a great new friend if they are just honest with that person it would be great for both of them.
12 :
I can't stand people who do things like that. I am physically challenged, and am sad to say that even handicapped people pick on each other. We are all human, and we all have our limitations. No one is perfect.
13 :
I find them to be absolutely pathetic & stupid, and they are meant to be pitied.
14 :
I believe that people who make fun and tease the handicapped are selfish. They do not realize that they really do hurt other people because they are to busy being ignorant. I personally know it bothers me when people do this because of my mom. She is handicapped and people are always staring at her. There is nothing wrong with her... she is a person just like everyone else and they are going to have to accept that. Its rude and disrespectful.
15 :
Personally - I feel like going up to that person and beat the crap out of them and make them handicapped (say, from a broken leg and a broken jaw so they can't talk) for a few months so they can go around in wheelchair and so I and my friends can come around and make fun of them. They can also see how hard it is to get into a car, catch a bus, go up to sales counter and no one understand them. So they can see what life is like for a PWD. Realistically though, I know I can't do that. But I am very passionate about treating PWD with dignity and respect. Cheers But I feel ENRAGED when I see that.
16 :
The last time I witnessed a disabled person getting picked on was by a former supervisor of mine. This *sshole picked on a former co-worker of mine who had Down's Syndrome. I handle this by wiping the floor with this punk *ss that called himself my supervisor.
17 :
yeah I really don't like people to tease DA or HC about that, it is mean!
18 :
I am a believer in Karma. Someday, they will get their just rewards.
19 :
It makes me hope karma is real.
20 :
If you see this happening,Why don't you help the kids that are being made fun of....I bet if your among your friends and there laughing,I bet you are also making fun of the disabled...Am I right....
21 :
I also believe in karma. It is more of a b***h than I choose to be.

What do universities consider as an "International Student"?
What do universities consider as an "International Student"?
I have a friend who's born, lived and studying in Hong Kong her whole life. But she's been attending International school there that follows the british system and all subjects are taught in english. Would she still be considered as an internation student if she were to apply to a US university? and will she still need to take her SATS? thanks in advance! jess

A student who is a citizen of the country in which the college is, is considered a regular student. Anyone who is not, is considered an international student

I am in a top school here and in the elite class, so i think my marks are good enough. If I want to start year 11 in 2010, can anyone tell me what can I do? Thanks

In order to get into ruse, you have to be academically qualified. You apply in June/July and you submit a form with all your acheivements, certificates etc... Then in September they tell you if you're successful or not. Good luck!

How can I stop a person from downloading foreign country download programs.?
How can I stop a person from downloading foreign country download programs.?
I have a foreign exchange student from Hong Kong China and he downloads programs on my computer all in Chinese which is dangerous for I do not speak or read Chinese. I go to control panel and remove the programs ony to have him put them right back on when he uses the computer which frankly is most of the time. How can i permanently remove these programs so he cannot down load them any more.

He shouldn't be allowed to install things on your computer. That's entirely unacceptable, especially without consulting with you to make sure it's ok. Password protect your computer, and if he complains, tell him he needs to get his own. Using yours is a privilege, not a right. (I doubt that he'll know how to bypass Windows' security, and even if he does I doubt that he'd be nervy enough to try it... it's an illegal invasion of privacy and if you caught him he'd be in very big trouble!) If you've already agreed that he's allowed to use your computer (either contractually or as an informal agreement), and you feel uncomfortable going back on it, politely but firmly inform him that he's allowed to use it as it is, and he's not to install anything on it. Create a guest account and password protect your Administrator account; that will prevent him from installing most (though not all) programs.

You need a CMOS password windows passwords are easy to by pass. There might be a registry entry you can change (at your own risk) to limit Unicode useage. Or take you power cord with you when you leave. Why do you think Chinese is dangerous? If you partition your drive he can have his own section to use. Advertisment: Maxtor SafetyDrill prepares, boots, and recovers your PC's entire internal drive contents in case of system failure or virus/spyware infection (This software feature is only available on Windows systems.) http://apcmag.com/6101/dualboot_windows_xp_and_ubuntu Oh, best idea and keep friends. Have him buy an external drive load his own OS then he is not using your HDD only the other hardware, oh, and setup a dual boot.

it is about a good 45 minutes to 1 hour travelling by car with traffic. by bus IDK, usually longer. Santa Monica is a beautiful place to visit or to live in.
2 :
Check Gray Hound bus company. They will tell you all you need to know. Silly me! it is just a commute trip! Check with the local bus company, then.

How do I qualify to pay resident tuition for UCLA?
How do I qualify to pay resident tuition for UCLA?
I am an international student from Hong Kong and I've been studying at a community college for nearly a year, and I'm hoping to transfer to UCLA, however, the non-resident tuition is very expensive. Is there any paths that would allow me to qualify to pay California resident tuition?

You must be a resident of California for at least a year (WITHOUT going to school), so you must be in California to work, live, etc. The school needs to know that you are in California for reasons other than to just go to school. To prove your residency, get a driver's license, permanent address, file for taxes, etc.
