Bible categorized as pornography in Hong Kong?
Chinese website said the holy book was full of stories of rape, incest and violence, a media report said Wednesday. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/wacky/porn-complaints-about-bible/story-e6frev20-1111113549609 MORE than 200 complaints about the Bible have been received by Hong Kong's anti-porn watchdog after a Chinese website said the holy book was full of stories of rape, incest and violence, a media report said Wednesday. The agency confirmed it had received about 210 complaints about the Bible, compared with about 80 against a university students' newspaper which ran a series of sex columns the authority decided earlier this week were indecent.

China's backwards, man. There are plenty of reasons why the bible may be wrong, but that's not one of them.

that's the facts jack the story of lot and his daughters is my personal favorite

Conservative estimates would put about 100-1000 who times as many didn't complain. So do the math. I remember many more complaints than that about bare-breasted African women in National Geographic. You oughta let the little girl go and use the car, see the world. little boy. :) THEBKL

wow maybe china isnt so bad after all
5 :
what do you expect from a country that harvests the organs of political prisoners while they're still alive? The chinese have the mentality of insects. Vicious, self-serving, predatory.

It is just another excuse to crack down on religious freedom in China.

Can I change from a work to a student visa in China w/o leaving the country?
Can I change from a work to a student visa in China w/o leaving the country?
I am leaving my employment in Shanghai and wish to study in Beijing. I am an American, and I have heard that some people have to go to Hong Kong to get their visas changed, but would I potentially need to return to America to get a new visa? Thanks!

No, you don't need to go to Hong Kong to get your visa changed (especially you're applying for a student visa, that may not be the case for Z visa, though). You should contact a trustworthy agent to do the conversion and only the one you can trust. More new agents are now opening and they usually have "sudden price fluctuations" and "hidden costs", or even worse they may somehow lose your passport, no visa at all even after the due date of your visa. Terrible? Yes. But it happens A LOT. Contact me for more information, we frequently helped friends dealing with visa problems.

How to survive in Hong Kong?
How to survive in Hong Kong?
I graduated from college in the states last year and moved back to Hong Kong 4 months ago. Hong Kong is my hometown actually. But the problem is I'm still not used to my life in HK. Here probably are the reasons : When I lived in the states, I hung out with Americans 24/7 which means I blended in very well. Even alot of people thought I was American instead of a foreigner. I had many friends and I loved the activities such as partying, driving to friends' places, road tripping....I just love the whole western life. I know HK is an international city so it shouldn't be hard to meet westerners. Yes I met lots of people from America and Europe, I've been hanging out with them. But the thing is most of them have left HK or are going to leave soon because they're usually exchange students or temporary workers. Some people have told me that I need to make friends with local HK people if I want long term friendships. I tried but HK people don't seem to have alot in common with me. Now I feel lonely actually. I don't know what to do. HK allows youtube, facebook and everything. It's NOT the same as China. I'm still keeping in touch with my friends in the states through those media.

Since I live in Hong Kong (but Hong Kong's not my hometown, actually) I really think (local) Hong Kong people are "lack-of-friendliness" Since you're from America, maybe your Cantonese is not good enough?? (I'm just guessing) Hong Kong people sometimes discriminate people who doesn't speak Chinese well Many of my teachers are from Canada or the states and they really can't understand and speak Cantonese well, and my classmates laughed at them... Maybe you can try to blend with those Hong Kong people and learn from their habits?? Or learn the fashion of Hong Kong peope?? ((But don't try to copy all of their habits and clothing) (Keep your style :) ) I'm not from Hong Kong but I get well with my classmates too maybe i spoke Cantonese fluently?? or they treat me like local Hong Kong people~ Even an foreigner (like me), can get well with Hong Kong people You can definitely be great friends with them... Go go go!!! åŠ æ²¹ :))) Perhaps I can be your friend??? my email: candy426@Live.hk

Student aboard (from HK)- Ivy League??

I'd really want to study in one of the Ivy League schools, especially Harvard University. When shall I start my application? When will be the first year of my university life usually?? When shall I Start planning for my future education in the US, looking for application forms, taking tests? And what's the different between college and university? I don't have these in HK and none of my friends/ relatives have studied in the US. Please help!!!! I'm feeling quite helpless right now...

First off, ANYONE applying to Harvard has a very small chance of getting in - the class size is simply tiny compared to the number of applications they receive; and since most people won't spend the money unless they feel they have the chance to actually get in, your chances, regardless of your standing, are very small. If you extend to all Ivys, you chances improve, obviously. However, depending on your area of interest, there are FAR better universities than Ivys, especially considering the costs. Second, start your application process about a year early - taking the required tests (SAT for undergrad, GRE/GMAT/LSAT/MCAT for graduate, depending on your field) take the TOFOL, get the application, start on the essays early. Most applications are available about 6 months before the deadlines. The earlier you take the tests the better. There is no real difference between college and university. Majors and fields of interests are grouped in colleges, all residing on the main campus of the university. For example, a typical university will have a college of Engineering, a college of Letters and Science, etc. Important thing is that all these various college are part of the university - Harvard has something like 7 or 8 different colleges on the main campus. Anyway, good luck. Peruse the Harvard website, and look at some of the other US university websites, and if you do not find the info you need, email the registar and ask your specific questions.
