Is Hong kong safe now to all Filipino students for tour?
we are BSHRM students and having our tour either next month or this month of jan. 2011. But we are scared because it is still not finish the case of Hostage drama in the Philippines which are the hong kong people were killed (were very truely apologize :-( ). Singapore looks like more expensive than hong kong that's why we chose more cheaper prize for our tour this year..Is it safe in HONG KONG now for us students especially we are filipinos??? plssss answer me!

Yes, we upset about this, but all were gone, and Hong Kong people don't make any angry to filipinos, I don't understand why you are thinking safety issue for Filipinos in Hong Kong.

Whatever damage that was done had already passed. Life goes on and people will move on. Undoubtedly, there are many local Hong Kong citizens not pleased with the event but chose not to make the same mistake by taking out the revenge on Filipinos or anyone in particular. It will be a thing of the past. You and your fellow students are safe, there are still many Filipinos living in Hong Kong and they can attest to it.

Hong Kong always been safe to Filipinos and visitors from all around the world. The people there are very friendly, kind-hearted and sensible, always willing to give a helping hand. The hostage killing incident was horrible but Hong Kong people have moved on quickly with their lifes when so many new events going on around them each day. I heard that Singaporeans are extremely racist towards people from poorer countries. Their diplomats openly called India "stupid". Racists signs are posted everywhere in Singapore vs Mainland Chinese. At least you never find these sort of things happen in Hong Kong. Dont worry, check www.DiscoverHongKong.com and enjoy!

How do I need to do if I want to study language in Hong Kong?
My nationality is Viet Nam, I really want to go to Hong Kong to study Cantonese language. But I heard that in Hong Kong Law do not apply for Vietnamese students for studying in Hong Kong, did not I? So How do I need to do if I want to study in Hong Kong?

I don't know about living there directly...but here is an option I've been using for learning Chinese You can possibly go to Interpals, its a pretty decent site and I go there myself. I've been learning chinese online by a penpal, and I've been helping her with English. It's also a great place to make friends! If you get a microphone, a webcam maybe, you can also chat with the people on there. After 5 years, I finally found a way to learn chinese freely.

my parents and i are from hong kong and we have live broadcast news from there i never heard then saying that. in hong kong theres international school i think if you just moved in and staying there you go to those schools?

How can Chinese students afford to go to university Hong Kong?
Im from Ireland and i am applying for the Baptist university of Hong Kong. I want to do a Masters in Analytical Chemistry..it cost 9000 euro which is pretty expensive....so how can normal chinese students afford to pay that? since maybe excluding hong kong ur standard of living is much lower?

Hiong Kong is one of the world's most expensive cities and comparing it to mainland China is a futile exercise. Also remember, overseas students are usually charged more. In the EU much more.

The students have part-time jobs in KTVs, massage parlors, and etc. Try it and you might like it! The pay is swell.

Many Chinese students from Mainland who pursue their studies in Hong Kong get scholarship and other subsidies from the government.

Like students who do masters in other universities. A) Grants, fundings. I was lucky that I got funding for my Masters. B) Money by themselves or through rich parents and as someone said home country students due get charged less. .

American Universities are more expansive.

if he/she = HKnese......they wil hv support fr our government. or else, they can get the loan fr government w/ no interests at all & return the amount in 7 yrs after they grad. n on the other hand, u r count as overseas student so the fee wil be higher than local students. that's every U does. my sis flew to UK n studying there / the annual fee = approx. HKD$150,000. n she chkd w/ her classmates whose local students. they just pay HKD$30,000 per yr.

Hong Kong Forein exchange student coming, i have some questions.?
On january 20th we go to pick her up, she will stay for a week and a half, then in march/april i will go there for two weeks. She has picked 'lucas' as her english name. She is sixteen. I am wodering as far as rooming goes, we can either put her in my room or in the guest room. NOrmally an easy answer, the guest room. But it is in out basement. So while my family sleeps upstairs she would be two floors down. New place new coutry. Should i just let her use my room or would it be fine. The only other option is my brothers room, but her stills seeps with my parents so it would be a racecar bed so that wouldnt work. Second as far as gifts, we will get her a sweatshirt with our states name on it but what else should i get her? They are very gift givey there, my teacher says when i go with him and some other student i will need another suitcase for it all, like everyone that goes usually needs. So as far as gifts for her what would she want. I know she liikes chocolate, reading, ice skating, cartoons, and is learning mandarin. lastly what do i expect? Any tips?

Good for you in meeting a new Hong Kong friend and going to Hong Kong soon. You're a very considerate person, I agree it's not very good to put her alone in the basement, if you do not mind letting her stay in your room will enable both of you understand each other's culture better. You're going to have lots of questions about Hong Kong before your trip in April. Getting her T-shirt is a great idea. I have a 3.37 GPA with a 1860 on the SATs. I have decent extracurriculars with varsity sports, two jobs, and some volunteering. I have taken 7-8 AP classes in three years. Do you think i could get in to University of Hong Kong as an international student from the US?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that you don't need to get a visa. Reason is because you have a HK ID card (well, I presume you do) with the "right to abode"....which allows you to stay for studies too.
