are hong kongers still racist toward south asians?
i am planning to spend some time studying in hong kong, but the stories of racism towards other south asians are putting me off. apparently chinese people will not sit next to you in the bus and will go as far as to move away from a brown-skinned person. would i have trouble if i have to share a room with a chinese student? will these students accept me or will it be the most miserable years of my life? please help!

If the school is in the US you will be fine. As a minority on the school grounds, the Asians band together and get along just fine. If you will be in Hong Kong, you are sure to feel like an outsider at first. Once you learn how to handle the slang terms and small tricks of fitting in there you will be fine.

Firstly i am chinese and i dont do this, because i am friends with loads of those type of people. If i was brought up in china. I would becaue I wouldnt be farmiliar with those type of people and listen to news and stories. However chinese people and brown skinned people (i see some are really close friends) If you were to share a room with chinese, try it for a coupal of days. If he/she shows that they aren't comfortable with you staying with them. Move somewhere else
