Should I buy a Canon Digital Rebel XTi (Canon EOS 400D) in US, JAPAN or HONG KONG?
I am a student in US. I will travel in Asia next month for 3 weeks. I need a DSLR Canon Digital Rebel XTi (Canon EOS 400D) for the vacation. Should I buy one in US, JAPAN or HONG KONG?

I have a Rebel and looked into this before I bought mine. The Japan warranty is NOT honored in the US. It came up because dealers (in New York especially) were importing the Japan models and passing them off as US, and people wouldn't find out until they took them in for service and denied claims. If you're worried about it breaking over there, you might be better off with a model purchased where you're going, because I'd bet the problem goes both ways, but If you're going to be back in 3 weeks and want it covered here, chances are you're going to want a US warranty. and hey... Have a GREAT trip!

U better 2 buy it Japan. As u r visitor in Japan, u will get tax exempted. And buy it from International std shops, so u will get system operating menus & manuals in English. Otherwise that r in Japanese.

It is better you buy it in USA. I was in a similar situation few months back. I was in US and wanted the Rebel XTi before I came to Shanghai. I researched the prices in Singapore, Shanghai and USA. The price in Shanghai and singapore were as high as USA and I don't have the convinience of buying the english version with english manuals. So I decided to buy in USA, which is definitely worked well for me. For starters I had the camera through out the trip. After I reached Shanghai I checked the prices and they are definitely higher than USA.
